At Southbridge Fitness Center, we are dedicated to the health and fitness of our clients. We work tirelessly to provide training, fitness classes, and health education to help all of our gym members live their healthiest life. We are happy to now have two locations open so we may serve the New York and Brooklyn area a great small gym experience with a personal touch.
Our founders, Martin Addo and Monifa Maat, have created a welcoming gym and fitness center where clients can come to have fun and feel great! Through their personalized training programs, massage therapy, and numerous classes, they hope to help every one of their clients achieve their goals and build a healthy body from the inside out.
Martin Luther King Addo was born in Ghana, West Africa and won the title of Mr. Ghana 1995 and 1996. He is a competitive bodybuilder that believes in natural bodybuilding, eating healthy food, rest and peace of mind. Known in the international arena as an accomplished and award-winning body builder, Addo has found great success in his pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. He was awarded 1st place at MuscleMania (Washington DC), and has competed around the world at such events as Mr. Universe (England), NBI Professional, and many others. Addo is an exercise specialist and is available for personal training, yoga-pilates classes and counseling. He is dedicated to providing custom-designed exercise training and nutritional programs that improve the health and longevity of his clients.
Monifa Maat, known affectionately by her clients as “The Healthy Motivator” is a National Certified Personal Trainer, home fitness enthusiast and nutrition advocate. She is a published author and the creator of Bed Aerobics Fitness Flow, where she inspires “health motivation through aerobic innovation!” Monifa’s passion is to provide critical health information to the public in a powerful and innovative format that ultimately motivates them to crave healthier habits. Monifa Maat received her undergraduate degree at Pace University’s Dyson School of the Arts, and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Keller Graduate School of Management. She has been a featured guest on New York 1 News Health Report, and radio stations WBLS, WLIB, WWRL, and WHCR-FM.
South bridge fitness center has an amazing positive environment. With such good energy you’ll always have an amazing experience. As soon as you enter the door you are greeted in the most stunning way. The facility is clean and the staff is pleasant. The monthly fee is reasonable and the location is fitting.
Great little gym in the heart of downtown NYC. Caring and respectful staff and hands on owner. Constantly improving, adding equipment, classes. This gym will meet all your fitness needs, but YOU have to put in the work. Meet the trainers half way and you’ll see and feel results.
Feels like home, great owner, great trainers. Gives you the vibe of your own personal gym, and they give you all of their attention. I live nearby so it is very convenient.
